A reminder to all owners about the upcoming Hurricane season and patio furniture and wall decorations on the limited common areas. With most storms come high winds and driving rains that have been known to move objects or turn them into projectiles. If your plans are to be gone from the property for any length of time you should mover tables and chairs into a safe area to prevent them from becoming airborne and causing damage. If a storm develops and the community is within the cone of the storm’s path, the staff will not have time to assist individual unit owners with securing property. This also will include the sea wall area, slips and the common patio areas.
When notice is given that a storm is bearing down on our area, we cannot wait to secure the property at the last minute. Most cases we begin to secure the community 72 hours out from the expected landfall time. Our protocol includes many hours of securing equipment and property while most people want to enjoy the sunshine and calm before the storm.
The staff will start to remove all pool furniture, close pools and treat with chemicals along with moving equipment to higher ground. We also have to move and secure office equipment to second floor.
Have a plan and follow it.
